Youth
The youth of St. Saviour’s are extremely active in both the parish and the community. Very often youth stop attending church once they have been confirmed. The goal with this group of Youth is to stay active in the parish but be able to connect with the reality of the world we are living in.
Two Sundays a month the Youth attend Worship together and participate in leadership roles such as lector, intercessor, crucifer, acolyte and PowerPoint operator. The Youth are an important component of our worshipping community. One Sunday a month, the Youth go into the community working in outreach, works of mission or volunteering. Some examples include Winnipeg Harvest, Siloam Mission and the Christmas Cheer Board. Future community outreach includes Feed our Lambs, assisting the Salvation Army in the downtown area, additional Harvest and Siloam days and perhaps a weekend retreat focused on learning more about refugees and new immigrants to Canada. The 4th Sunday of the month is spent in Bible Study where we talk about and think about the role of outreach and mission as Christians. We ask why we provide outreach work, what it means, how it relates to Jesus and his works and many more topical things of interest to a teenager engaged in the life of the church and Christ.
